What is Oxiracetam?
Oxiracetam is a water soluble nootropic within the racetam family of compounds that is said to have potency up to five times more than that of Piracetam. It was the third racetam to be developed after Piracetam and Aniracetam respectively in addition to similar compounds like Phenylpiracetam, Nefiracetam, and Pramiracetam.
Oxiracetam performs much the same as a stimulant does in many ways and some users have described the energy Oxiracetam provides as similar to caffeine.
The supplement works by manipulating the cholinergic system and acetylcholine systems in the brain. Similarly it stimulates the NDMA and AMPA pathways and receptors and is most effective with adequate supplies of choline in the body.
Common Uses and Benefits Oxiracetam
The most common use of the supplement is to increase alertness, focus, memory and analytical thinking. It has the capacity of improving cognitive function by promoting excitatory neurotransmitter release which is thought to help assist in logical and analytical thinking processes, including memory formulation.
It may have mild psychostimulant effects that can help curb mental fatigue and enhance energy as well. It does not possess mood-enhancing qualities like some other nootropics as it does not affect brain chemicals such as serotonin or dopamine.
The supplement is used to treat degenerative cognitive collapse brought about by aging. This is a result of its neuro-protective properties which boost the brain’s physical health and reduce cognitive degeneration symptoms. It may even be able to repair damaged cells but this is uncertain at this time.
Oxiracetam Side Effects and Dosing Guidelines
This supplement is considered to be safe for humans as it has very low toxicity. There doesn’t appear to be any known cases of death or serious injuries as a result of overdosing on the supplement. However, nootropics are not generally recommended to be used by children, breast feeding or pregnant mothers.
All known side effects of this drug are said to be pretty mild. The most common being nausea, headaches, nervousness, insomnia, dizziness, and gastrointestinal distress. Reducing the dosage should help to avoid most of these side effects. As a result if the side effect persists consider terminating consumption of the nootropic for a few days.
To achieve the best results from your Oxiracetam you must use the correct dosage. The recommended dosage is between 600 and 3,000 milligrams per day but amounts will vary. New users of Nootropics are advised to take the lower end of the dosage and increase the dosage gradually as time goes (only increase if you have to).
Doses can be administered equally throughout the day or at one time. Preferably the first dose should be taken upon waking up in the morning, the second dose after a few hours, and the final dose during early evening.
Oxiracetam has low usage trials and limited clinical data compared to other racetams. It can be an effective stimulant and memory enhancer.
